Abstrak

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed communication patterns across various aspects of society, including the way leaders, organizations, and communities interact in public spaces. While digital transformation has facilitated information exchange and expanded public participation, it has also intensified challenges such as misinformation, hate speech, polarization, and the decline of communication ethics, all of which may weaken social relationships and public trust. These conditions highlight the need to strengthen ethical communication values as a foundation for exemplary leadership in the digital era. This study aims to analyze the relevance of Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s philosophy in fostering ethical communication and strengthening exemplary leadership in response to contemporary digital communication challenges. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using a literature review method through the analysis of books, scholarly journal articles, and other academic sources related to communication ethics, leadership, digital society, and Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s philosophy. The findings reveal that the principles of Ing Ngarso Sung Tulodo, Ing Madyo Mangun Karso, and Tut Wuri Handayani remain highly relevant as ethical foundations for promoting responsible communication, strengthening public trust, inspiring exemplary leadership, and encouraging respectful, inclusive, and collaborative interactions within digital environments. The study concludes that Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s philosophy provides a relevant conceptual framework for addressing communication challenges in the digital era while offering practical implications for educational institutions, organizations, leaders, and policymakers in fostering an ethical, responsible, and sustainable digital society.
