Generative AI Policies

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI have become increasingly important in contemporary research, particularly in the fields of digital technology, business, entrepreneurship, innovation, digital transformation, data analytics, emerging technologies in management, sustainable development, and data governance and digital ethics. These technologies can support research productivity, language improvement, information processing, data analysis, business model development, and computational processes. However, their use also introduces important challenges concerning academic integrity, transparency, accountability, information accuracy, copyright, data privacy, and responsible technology use.

As an academic journal focusing on digital technology, business, and entrepreneurship, ABDI Journal supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI throughout the research and publication process. AI may only be used as an assistive technology and must not replace human intellectual contribution, scientific judgment, ethical responsibility, creativity, or critical thinking.

This policy applies to the use of AI throughout research and publication activities within the scope of ABDI Journal, including research related to human-centric innovation, digital business models and transformation, digital entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems, emerging technologies in management, digitalization for sustainable development, and data governance and digital ethics.

ABDI Journal permits the responsible use of Generative AI as an assistive technology during the research and manuscript preparation process. The use of AI must remain under the direct supervision and responsibility of the authors. Acceptable uses include:

• Research idea development and brainstorming.
• Language editing, grammar improvement, and proofreading.
• Translation assistance.
• Manuscript organization and structuring.
• Literature classification and organization.
• Programming and coding assistance.
• Explanation of algorithms and digital technologies.
• Data exploration and processing, subject to author verification.
• Data visualization support.
• Improving manuscript readability and clarity.
• Supporting computational processes and research workflows.

In accordance with the focus and scope of ABDI Journal, Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies may be investigated or applied in research related to:

• Orange Technology and Human-Centric Innovation, including technology-driven innovation that enhances human experience, well-being, social value, and creative industries.
• Digital Business Models and Transformation, including the transformation of business processes, value propositions, business models, and organizational structures through digital technologies.
• Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystems, including digital entrepreneurship, startups, digital platforms, and innovation ecosystem development.
• Emerging Technologies in Management, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain, Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), and their applications in management, organizational performance, and competitive advantage.
• Digitalization for Sustainable Development, including the use of digital technologies to support circular economy practices, inclusive growth, sustainable innovation, and responsible business practices.
• Data Governance and Digital Ethics, including data governance, information privacy, algorithmic bias, corporate digital responsibility, and ethical considerations in the adoption and implementation of digital technologies.

Authors are fully responsible for reviewing, validating, verifying, and revising any output generated or assisted by AI before manuscript submission to ABDI Journal. The use of AI does not transfer or diminish the authors' academic responsibility for the content, methodology, data, analysis, findings, and conclusions of the research.

Authors remain fully accountable for:

• Originality of the scholarly work.
• Scientific accuracy and validity.
• Research data integrity.
• Validity of methods and algorithms.
• Accuracy of analysis and interpretation.
• Compliance with research ethics.
• Accuracy of citations and references.
• Copyright compliance.
• Research traceability and reproducibility.
• Overall manuscript integrity.

Generative AI systems must not be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the content of the article, provide final approval of the manuscript, or satisfy the criteria for academic authorship.

ABDI Journal prohibits the use of Generative AI for activities that compromise research integrity, validity, and credibility. Prohibited uses include:

• Fabricating, inventing, or manipulating research data.
• Generating research, experimental, or computational results that were not actually obtained.
• Creating fabricated or unverifiable references, citations, datasets, DOIs, or scholarly sources.
• Manipulating statistical analyses, AI models, or algorithmic outputs to support predetermined conclusions.
• Generating misleading findings concerning digital technologies, business models, entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, or data governance.
• Creating deceptive figures, tables, graphs, or visualizations that do not accurately represent the underlying data.
• Generating non-original manuscripts or concealing the use of AI inappropriately.
• Generating or falsifying statements concerning research ethics approval.
• Using AI to manipulate, interfere with, or exploit the peer-review process.
• Uploading confidential research data, personal data, unpublished manuscripts, or other restricted materials to publicly accessible AI systems without appropriate authorization.

Any suspected misuse of AI may be investigated in accordance with the publication ethics policies of ABDI Journal. Confirmed violations may result in manuscript rejection, requests for correction, article retraction, or other appropriate editorial actions depending on the nature and severity of the violation.

Authors who use Generative AI during the preparation of a manuscript must transparently disclose such use within the manuscript. The disclosure should identify the AI system used, describe its purpose, and confirm that all AI-generated or AI-assisted outputs were carefully reviewed, verified, and revised by the authors.

During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI) solely for language editing and grammar improvement. All AI-generated suggestions were carefully reviewed, verified, and revised by the authors. The authors assume full responsibility for the final content of this manuscript.

When AI is used for other purposes, authors should describe such use specifically and transparently, particularly when AI contributes to data analysis, programming, visualization, literature classification, computational processes, or other substantive research activities.

Editors and reviewers of ABDI Journal may use AI-assisted technologies only to a limited extent for administrative or language-support purposes while maintaining confidentiality, independence, and integrity throughout the editorial and peer-review process.

Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, unpublished research data, source code, supplementary materials, personal information, or reviewer comments into publicly accessible AI systems without appropriate authorization.

Editorial decisions and peer-review recommendations must always be based on human judgment, scientific expertise, objectivity, and professional responsibility. AI must not replace the academic judgment of editors or the scientific assessment of reviewers.

ABDI Journal reserves the right to investigate suspected violations of this Artificial Intelligence policy at any stage of the publication process. All suspected violations will be handled in accordance with the principles of academic integrity, transparency, scientific responsibility, and publication ethics.

Confirmed violations may result in manuscript rejection, requests for revision, correction of a published article, article retraction, or other editorial actions depending on the severity and nature of the violation.

ABDI Journal is committed to promoting the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI in research related to digital technology, business, entrepreneurship, innovation, digital transformation, emerging technologies in management, sustainable development, data governance, and digital ethics. The use of AI must support research quality without diminishing human intellectual contribution, scientific integrity, transparency, and academic responsibility.
