Plagiarisme

The ABDI Editorial Board acknowledges that plagiarism is unacceptable and therefore establishes the following policy, which specifies certain actions (penalties) when plagiarism is identified in articles submitted for publication in ABDI.

Our Policy:

The paper must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any material taken verbatim from other sources must be clearly distinguished from the original text by using (1) indentation, (2) quotation marks, and (3) source identification.

Any text exceeding the standard of fair use (defined here as more than two or three sentences, or the equivalent) or any graphic material reproduced from another source requires permission from the copyright holder and, if possible, the original author. It must also include proper source identification, such as the previous publication.

When plagiarism is identified, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing the paper and will determine the appropriate action based on the level of plagiarism detected, following the guideline of 20% plagiarism threshold as outlined below:

1. Minor: A short section of another article is plagiarized without any significant data or ideas taken from the other paper.

Action : A warning is given to the author, and a request is made to revise the text and properly cite the original article.

2. Moderate: A significant portion of the paper is plagiarized without proper citation of the original source.

Action : The submitted article is rejected, and the author is prohibited from submitting further articles for one year.

3. Severe: Most of the paper is plagiarized, involving the reproduction of original results or ideas presented in another publication.

Action: The paper is rejected, and the author is prohibited from submitting further articles for five years.

It is understood that all authors are responsible for the content of the papers they submit, as they have all signed the ABDI Copyright Transfer Form. If a penalty is imposed for plagiarism, all authors will be subject to the same sanction

If a second case of plagiarism by the same author is identified, the decision regarding the actions to be taken will be made by the Editorial Board (the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Members) together with the Chief Editor. The author(s) may be permanently prohibited from submitting any further articles.

This policy also applies to material reproduced from other publications by the same author. If an author uses previously published text or images, the corresponding paragraphs or figures must be clearly identified, and the previous publication must be properly cited. It is understood that, in the case of review papers or tutorial papers, a significant portion of the material may have been previously published.

Authors must identify the sources of previously published material and obtain permission from the original author and publisher. If an author submits a manuscript to ABDI that significantly overlaps with a manuscript submitted to another journal at the same time, and this overlap is discovered either during the review process or after the publication of both papers, the editor of the other journal will be notified and the case will be treated as a case of severe plagiarism. Significant overlap refers to the use of identical or nearly identical figures and identical or slightly modified text for one-half or more of the paper. For self-plagiarism involving less than half but more than one-tenth of the paper, the case will be treated as moderate plagiarism. If self-plagiarism is limited to the methods section, the case will be considered minor plagiarism.

If an author uses some previously published material to clarify the presentation of new results, the previously published material must be clearly identified, and the differences from the current publication must be stated. Permission to republish must be obtained from the copyright holder. In the case of a manuscript originally published in conference proceedings and later submitted to ABDI, either in identical or extended form, the author must identify the name of the conference proceedings and the date of publication, and obtain permission to republish from the copyright holder. The editor may decide not to accept such a paper for publication.

However, an author is allowed to use material from unpublished presentations, including visual displays, in a subsequent journal publication. In the case of a submitted publication that was originally published in another language, the title, date, and original journal of publication must be identified by the author, and copyright permission must be obtained. The editor may accept such translated publications to reach a wider audience. The editor may also select certain previously published papers (for example, “science” papers) for republication to provide a broader perspective within a specific issue of ABDI. Such republications must be clearly identified, and the date and original journal of publication must be provided, with permission obtained from both the author and the publisher.

The ABDI layout editor for the journal is responsible for maintaining a list of authors who have been sanctioned and for ensuring that no authors of submitted papers appear on this list. If a banned author is identified, the layout editor will notify the Editor-in-Chief, who will take appropriate action. This policy will be posted on the website along with the submission instructions, and a copy will be sent to the authors in the confirmation email after the initial receipt of their original manuscript. A statement will be added to the copyright transfer form indicating that the authors have read the Plagiarism Policy.
