Conflict of Interest
The ADI Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (ADIMAS Journal) is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, and integrity throughout the publication process. A conflict of interest occurs when personal, professional, financial, institutional, or other relationships could improperly influence, or be perceived to influence, the preparation, evaluation, editorial handling, or publication of a manuscript. ADIMAS recognizes that the disclosure and appropriate management of conflicts of interest are essential to ensuring the credibility of scholarly publications and the responsible dissemination of community service outcomes.
1. Authors' Responsibilities
All authors are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may be relevant to their submitted manuscripts. Such disclosures must be made during submission and clearly stated in the manuscript. Authors must ensure that their descriptions of community service activities, findings, outcomes, and recommendations are presented objectively and are not improperly influenced by personal interests or external parties.
Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:
- Financial interests, including grants, sponsorships, honoraria, consultancy fees, or other financial benefits related to the manuscript.
- Employment, professional appointments, institutional affiliations, or contractual relationships that may influence the work.
- Personal relationships, family relationships, professional collaborations, or disputes that could affect the objectivity of the research or publication process.
- Commercial interests, ownership of businesses, intellectual property rights, patents, or financial interests in products, services, or technologies discussed in the manuscript.
- Relationships with community partners, funding organizations, local authorities, beneficiaries, or other stakeholders involved in the reported community service activities.
- Any other circumstances that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the authors' judgment, interpretation of results, or presentation of conclusions.
If no conflict of interest exists, the authors must explicitly include the following statement in their manuscript: "The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this article." If a conflict exists, the authors must provide a clear and accurate explanation of its nature and scope.
2. Reviewers' Responsibilities
Reviewers must evaluate submitted manuscripts fairly, independently, and objectively. They are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest to the editorial team before accepting or proceeding with a review assignment. Reviewers should decline the assignment if their relationships, affiliations, financial interests, previous involvement in the manuscript, close collaboration with the authors, or other circumstances could compromise their impartiality.
Reviewers must not use unpublished information obtained through the peer-review process for personal advantage, professional gain, or the benefit of other parties. All manuscripts and related information must be treated as confidential. If a potential conflict of interest emerges during the review process, the reviewer must promptly inform the editor and follow the editor's instructions.
3. Editors' Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for ensuring that editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's academic quality, relevance to the scope of ADIMAS Journal, methodological appropriateness, ethical compliance, and contribution to community service practice and knowledge. Editorial decisions must not be influenced by personal relationships, institutional affiliations, financial interests, commercial considerations, or other competing interests.
Editors must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may affect their editorial judgment. When a conflict is identified, the editor must withdraw from handling the manuscript and arrange for an independent editor to manage the evaluation and decision-making process. Editors must also ensure that reviewers are selected and assigned in a manner that supports an impartial and credible peer-review process.
4. Disclosure of Funding and Third-Party Interests
Authors must disclose the sources of financial and non-financial support that contributed to the reported community service activities or manuscript preparation. This includes funding from government agencies, universities, private organizations, companies, non-governmental organizations, community partners, or other supporting institutions, where applicable.
Authors must also explain the role of funders or supporting organizations, where relevant, in activity design, implementation, data collection, evaluation, interpretation of outcomes, manuscript preparation, and the decision to submit the manuscript for publication. The provision of funding or other support does not automatically constitute a conflict of interest; however, any relationship that could influence or be perceived to influence the reported work must be transparently disclosed.
5. Management of Conflicts of Interest
ADIMAS Journal will assess disclosed conflicts of interest and take appropriate measures to protect the integrity of the editorial and publication processes. Depending on the nature and severity of the conflict, these measures may include requesting additional disclosures, assigning an independent editor or reviewer, requiring clarification or revision of the manuscript, or taking other appropriate editorial actions.
Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest may result in editorial action, including suspension of the review process, rejection of the manuscript, correction of a published article, or other appropriate measures in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies. Where a concern arises after publication, ADIMAS Journal will assess the matter and determine the appropriate response based on the available evidence and applicable publication ethics standards.
6. Commitment to Publication Ethics
ADIMAS Journal expects authors, reviewers, and editors to uphold the principles of honesty, transparency, accountability, and professional integrity. The disclosure of conflicts of interest is intended to support informed editorial judgment and maintain trust among authors, reviewers, editors, community partners, beneficiaries, readers, and other stakeholders.
By implementing this policy, ADIMAS Journal seeks to ensure that published articles on community service, multidisciplinary approaches, creativepreneurship, community activities, social development, social education, and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are evaluated and published through a fair, transparent, and ethically responsible process.
