Generative AI Policies

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI technologies has influenced the preparation, documentation, evaluation, and dissemination of scholarly publications, including articles related to community service and community empowerment. These technologies may support authors in improving language quality, organizing manuscripts, developing ideas, assisting with data presentation, and enhancing the clarity and accessibility of scholarly communication.

ADIMAS Journal supports the responsible, transparent, ethical, and human-supervised use of Generative AI technologies in manuscript preparation. The use of AI should contribute to improving the quality of scholarly communication without compromising academic integrity, research ethics, community trust, data authenticity, or the reliability of reported community service outcomes.

As a journal focusing on community service, multidisciplinary approaches, creativepreneurship, community activities, social development, and social education, ADIMAS Journal recognizes that articles may involve direct interaction with communities, community partners, beneficiaries, institutions, and other stakeholders. Therefore, the use of AI must not replace human responsibility, professional expertise, community engagement, participatory processes, or critical reflection on the outcomes and impacts of community service activities.

Human authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted to ADIMAS Journal, including the originality, accuracy, ethical compliance, interpretation, and integrity of the manuscript. Generative AI tools cannot be considered authors because they cannot assume responsibility for scholarly work, approve the final manuscript, respond to editorial inquiries, or comply with publication ethics and copyright requirements.

This policy applies to authors, reviewers, editors, and other parties involved in the publication process of ADIMAS Journal.

ADIMAS Journal permits the responsible use of Generative AI solely as an assistive technology during the preparation of manuscripts. AI-assisted tools may be used under direct human supervision for purposes including:

1. Idea generation and brainstorming related to community empowerment and social development;

2. Language editing, grammar improvement, and readability enhancement;

3. Translation assistance;

4. Manuscript organization and improvement of writing structure;

5. Assistance in summarizing or classifying literature;

6. Coding and programming support;

7. Assistance in preparing non-misleading data visualizations;

8. Improving the clarity and presentation of community service activities;

9. Supporting the development of educational materials or community engagement content;

10. Assisting with the organization of information related to multidisciplinary approaches, creativepreneurship, social education, and community activities.

The use of Generative AI must remain under meaningful human supervision. Authors must critically review, revise, verify, and validate all AI-assisted content before manuscript submission.

AI-generated output must not be accepted automatically or used without appropriate human evaluation. Authors must ensure that the final manuscript accurately represents the actual implementation, processes, findings, outcomes, challenges, and impacts of the reported community service activity.

Authors remain fully accountable for:

• The originality and authenticity of the manuscript;

• The accuracy and reliability of all information;

• The validity of community service methods and implementation;

• The authenticity of participant, beneficiary, community, or partner data;

• The accuracy of reported activities, outcomes, evaluations, and impacts;

• The interpretation and discussion of results;

• Ethical compliance and the protection of community participants;

• The accuracy and appropriateness of references and citations;

• Copyright and intellectual property compliance;

• The protection of confidential, personal, or sensitive information;

• The integrity and transparency of the manuscript;

• The relevance of the manuscript to the focus and scope of ADIMAS Journal;

• The responsible reporting of contributions to community empowerment, social development, and relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Generative AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work, approve the final version of the manuscript, respond to editorial correspondence, or fulfill authorship and publication requirements.

ADIMAS Journal strictly prohibits the use of Generative AI for:

1. Fabricating, altering, or manipulating community service data;

2. Creating false participant, beneficiary, community, institutional, or partner information;

3. Generating fictional community service activities that were not actually conducted;

4. Producing false implementation schedules, locations, methods, or activity documentation;

5. Fabricating pre-test, post-test, questionnaire, survey, interview, observation, or evaluation results;

6. Generating false claims regarding community empowerment, social impact, behavioral change, capacity improvement, or program sustainability;

7. Creating fabricated references, citations, DOIs, sources, or scholarly evidence;

8. Plagiarism, including the undisclosed reproduction or imitation of published works;

9. Submitting AI-generated content without appropriate human review and verification;

10. Manipulating photographs, figures, graphs, tables, or other visual materials in ways that misrepresent actual activities or findings;

11. Creating misleading images intended to represent community activities that did not occur;

12. Fabricating community partner approvals, participant consent, ethical approval statements, institutional permissions, or funding information;

13. Misrepresenting AI-generated content as direct observations, community experiences, participant statements, or actual field findings;

14. Replacing genuine community participation, stakeholder engagement, or professional judgment with AI-generated assumptions;

15. Using confidential community, participant, institutional, or unpublished information in AI systems without appropriate authorization.

Any suspected misuse of Generative AI may be investigated in accordance with the publication ethics and editorial policies of ADIMAS Journal.

Authors who use Generative AI tools in the preparation of a manuscript must disclose the use of such tools transparently.

The disclosure should be included in a separate section entitled:

Declaration of Generative AI Use

The declaration should identify:

• The name of the AI tool used;

• The purpose of its use;

• The extent to which the tool supported manuscript preparation;

• Confirmation that all AI-assisted content was reviewed, revised, and verified by the authors.

Example:

During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used ChatGPT (OpenAI) to assist with language improvement, manuscript organization, and readability. All AI-assisted content was critically reviewed, revised, and verified by the authors. The authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, ethical compliance, interpretation, and integrity of the submitted manuscript.

If Generative AI was used as part of the community service methodology, educational intervention, training activity, community empowerment program, or data analysis process, the use of AI must be explained clearly in the relevant methodology and results sections. Authors must describe the role of the AI tool, the procedures applied, and the measures taken to ensure the validity and ethical use of the technology.

Disclosure is generally not required for basic spelling checkers, conventional grammar correction tools, reference management software, or other automated tools that do not generate substantive scholarly content.

Community service articles may involve participants, beneficiaries, community groups, local institutions, government agencies, educational institutions, micro, small, and medium enterprises, community organizations, or other partners.

Authors must protect the privacy, dignity, rights, and confidential information of all individuals and institutions involved in community service activities.

Authors must not upload identifiable participant information, confidential community data, unpublished institutional documents, private interview materials, photographs, or sensitive partner information to publicly accessible Generative AI platforms without appropriate authorization.

Where applicable, authors must obtain the necessary permissions or informed consent for the collection, use, publication, and processing of information. The use of AI must not compromise participant confidentiality or community trust.

ADIMAS Journal does not permit the use of Generative AI to create, manipulate, alter, or enhance research and community service materials in ways that could misrepresent actual activities, participants, findings, outcomes, or impacts.

Generative AI must not be used to:

• Create fictional photographs of community service activities;

• Generate images that falsely represent participants or beneficiaries;

• Add, remove, or alter individuals, locations, objects, or activity components in a misleading manner;

• Modify evaluation results or community service data;

• Produce fabricated graphs, tables, or statistical outcomes;

• Enhance visual materials in ways that distort the actual implementation or results of an activity.

The use of AI-generated visual content may be considered acceptable only when:

1. It forms a legitimate part of the community service methodology or intervention;

2. Its use is clearly disclosed;

3. It is scientifically or educationally justified;

4. It does not misrepresent actual activities or findings;

5. It does not violate copyright, privacy, consent, or intellectual property rights;

6. It is clearly distinguished from authentic documentation of community service activities.

Any AI-generated visual content used for educational, illustrative, training, or communication purposes must be clearly identified where appropriate.

Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts and editorial materials received during the peer-review process.

Reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts, supplementary files, reviewer reports, author information, editorial correspondence, unpublished data, or confidential materials to publicly accessible Generative AI platforms without explicit authorization from ADIMAS Journal.

Generative AI tools must not be used to generate complete peer-review reports, determine manuscript acceptance or rejection, or replace the reviewer’s independent scholarly assessment.

Reviewers remain fully responsible for evaluating:

• The relevance of the manuscript to the focus and scope of ADIMAS Journal;

• The originality and significance of the community service contribution;

• The clarity and appropriateness of the methodology;

• The authenticity and adequacy of reported activities;

• The validity of evaluation methods and findings;

• The quality of the discussion and interpretation;

• The contribution to community empowerment and social development;

• The relevance of multidisciplinary approaches, creativepreneurship, community activities, social fields, or social education;

• The practical benefits and sustainability of the program;

• The ethical integrity and quality of the manuscript.

All reviewer recommendations must be based on independent human judgment, professional expertise, and objective scholarly evaluation.

Editors are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, fairness, and independence of the editorial and publication process.

Editors must not submit confidential manuscripts, unpublished findings, author information, reviewer identities, editorial correspondence, or other protected materials to publicly accessible AI systems without appropriate authorization.

Generative AI may be used only for limited administrative or technical support when its use does not compromise confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property, editorial independence, or publication integrity.

AI tools must not independently determine:

• Whether a manuscript is accepted, revised, or rejected;

• The scientific quality or originality of a manuscript;

• The ethical suitability of a community service activity;

• The validity of reported community outcomes;

• The relevance of a manuscript to the journal’s focus and scope;

• Editorial decisions or publication outcomes.

All editorial decisions must remain the responsibility of human editors and must be based on independent scholarly judgment, reviewer evaluations, editorial policies, publication ethics, and the academic quality of the submitted manuscript.

Failure to comply with this Generative AI Policy may result in one or more of the following actions:

• Requests for clarification or additional disclosure;

• Requests for revision or correction;

• Additional editorial or ethical assessment;

• Rejection before publication;

• Suspension of the editorial process;

• Publication of a correction or editorial notice;

• Retraction after publication;

• Notification to the relevant institution or organization when appropriate;

• Other editorial actions in accordance with the publication ethics and policies of ADIMAS Journal.

ADIMAS Journal reserves the right to investigate suspected misuse of Generative AI and to request supporting information from authors, reviewers, or other parties when necessary.

Generative AI technologies, scholarly publishing standards, and international guidance continue to evolve. Therefore, ADIMAS Journal reserves the right to review, revise, and update this policy to maintain responsible, transparent, ethical, and high-quality scholarly publishing.

Authors, reviewers, editors, and other parties involved in the publication process are expected to comply with the most current version of the Generative Artificial Intelligence Policy published by ADIMAS Journal.
