Post-Publication Discussion
The ADI Journal of Community Service (ADIMAS) encourages open scholarly dialogue, constructive criticism, and responsible academic engagement with articles published in the journal. Post-publication discussion is an important part of scholarly communication that enables readers, authors, researchers, community service practitioners, and other interested parties to clarify findings, evaluate methodologies, discuss the implications of community service activities, and contribute to the further development of knowledge and practice.
ADIMAS welcomes substantive comments, scholarly critiques, clarifications, and questions concerning published articles, particularly those related to community empowerment, community service practices, multidisciplinary approaches, creativepreneurship, social development, social education, and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Submission of Comments and Discussions
Readers who wish to comment on or discuss an article published in ADIMAS may contact the Editorial Team through the journal's official communication channels. Submissions should clearly identify the article concerned, including its title, author(s), publication details, and DOI or article URL, where available. The submission should provide a clear explanation of the issue being discussed and include relevant references, supporting evidence, or other documentation when necessary.
Comments and discussions must be directly relevant to the published article and demonstrate a meaningful scholarly contribution. They may address the interpretation of findings, methodological considerations, the applicability of community service outcomes, the accuracy of reported information, or opportunities for further academic and practical development.
Editorial Assessment
All submissions concerning published articles will be assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or an editor designated by the Editorial Team. The assessment will consider the relevance, scholarly value, accuracy, clarity, and ethical appropriateness of the submission. Where necessary, the Editorial Team may request additional information, supporting evidence, or clarification from the submitter.
The Editorial Team may invite the original author(s) to respond to substantive comments or concerns. Depending on the nature of the submission, the comment and the corresponding author response may be considered for publication as a Letter to the Editor, scholarly commentary, or another appropriate form of academic correspondence. Such submissions may be subject to editorial assessment and, where appropriate, peer review before publication.
The decision to publish a post-publication discussion rests with the Editorial Team. Acceptance of a comment does not automatically imply endorsement of the views expressed by the journal.
Author Responses
Authors of the original article will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to substantive scholarly comments or criticisms concerning their published work. Responses should address the issues raised clearly, objectively, and respectfully, with appropriate evidence or references where necessary.
The purpose of an author response is to clarify the original work, explain methodological or interpretative decisions, acknowledge valid limitations, and contribute to a balanced scholarly exchange. Authors are encouraged to engage constructively with legitimate criticism and to cooperate with the Editorial Team when clarification or corrective action is necessary.
Where appropriate, ADIMAS may publish the comment together with the author's response to ensure that readers can understand the discussion in its proper scholarly context.
Ethical Standards for Post-Publication Discussion
All post-publication discussions must uphold academic integrity, fairness, transparency, and professional respect. Comments and responses must be evidence-based, relevant to the scholarly content of the article, and expressed in appropriate academic language.
ADIMAS will not consider or publish submissions that contain personal attacks, defamatory statements, discriminatory language, harassment, unsupported allegations, deliberate misrepresentation, or content unrelated to the scholarly discussion of the published work.
Individuals raising concerns about a published article are expected to provide sufficient information to allow the Editorial Team to assess the matter fairly. The identities and information of the parties involved will be handled responsibly, subject to applicable ethical obligations and the requirements of a fair editorial assessment.
Errors, Research Integrity, and Editorial Action
If a post-publication discussion identifies a potential factual error, methodological omission, inaccurate interpretation, authorship issue, undisclosed competing interest, plagiarism, unreliable data, or another concern that may affect the integrity of a published article, the Editorial Team will assess the matter in accordance with ADIMAS's publication ethics and relevant editorial policies.
Where necessary, the Editorial Team may request an explanation from the author(s), seek advice from qualified experts, or undertake further investigation. Authors are expected to cooperate with reasonable editorial inquiries and to provide clarification or supporting documentation when requested.
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue, appropriate editorial action may include publishing a correction, clarification, an Expression of Concern, or a retraction. Any action will be proportionate to the findings of the editorial assessment and will follow applicable publication ethics principles and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Post-publication discussion does not replace the journal's formal procedures for handling allegations of research misconduct. Concerns involving potential misconduct will be addressed through the appropriate procedures, with due consideration for confidentiality, impartiality, and the opportunity for relevant parties to respond.
Transparency and Commitment
ADIMAS is committed to promoting responsible post-publication discussion as part of its broader commitment to trustworthy scholarly communication. The journal aims to ensure that substantive academic concerns are assessed fairly and that relevant corrections or editorial notices are communicated transparently when necessary.
Through this policy, ADIMAS seeks to strengthen the credibility of published community service work, encourage constructive exchange among scholars and practitioners, and support the continuous improvement of community engagement practices and their contributions to sustainable development.
